The Peñas Blancas River is fed by the pristine waters of several private cloud forest reserves in Monteverde and is surrounded by lush rainforest, natural volcanic hot springs, waterfalls and forested canyons making this river an indisputable scenic adventure.
Following your safari float you will get to visit one of the most iconic landmarks at the foothills of the Arenal Volcano - The majestic La Fortuna Waterfall, get to plunge in refreshing water pools before continuing your exploration onto the Arenal Volcano trails all before unwinding in the healing thermal waters of the Baldi Hot Springs.

Itinerary

our day will start with one of the most unique ways to explore the wonders of Costa Rica’s natural world - on a safari float on the Peñas Blancas River which is a haven for biodiversity and wildlife sightings. Accompanied by your expert naturalist guide you will calmly maneuver down the river being on the lookout for exotic birds, white-faced capuchin, monkeys, sloths, river turtles, crocodiles, iguanas and many bird species. This safari float trip will allow you to experience places that can otherwise not be reached by car or horseback. Marvel at the breathtaking landscapes just before heading back to continue onto your second exploration of the day!

The incredible level of humanity of La Fortuna with more than 4000 ml of annual precipitation is what contributes greatly to the creation of the majestic La Fortuna Waterfall that stands at a height of 210 feet (64 meters). This adventure definitely requires a moderate walking condition, since a descent of 500 meters downhill lays between the fascinating viewpoint at the top of the valley and the bottom of the river, where the "natural pools" will invite you for a refreshing swim to cool you off after all the exercise. Bring your camera to snap some of the most memorable landscape and vacation pictures.

After you mastered the return to the top of the La Fortuna Waterfall park we will get to enjoy a rich, traditional Costa Rican farm-to-table lunch to replenish body and soul before our outdoor exploration continues.

Accompanied by your expert guide you will get to hike the Arenal Volcano and discover the natural and geological history of the colossus, cross a path of solid lava and enjoy an excellent view over the volcano and the Arenal lake.

At last, at the Baldi Hot Springs, you will get to relax in the thermal pools and choose among the different temperatures to rejuvenate your body, mind and soul. For the more adventurous, get to choose from a range of water slides to add some fun to your wellness experience. The Baldi Hot Springs are the most expansive hot spring facility in the Arenal Volcano area. The pools are large and small, hot and cold, with walking paths between them.
